This plaid tree skirt is the perfect way to add a touch of Christmas cheer to your home. This easy-to-sew project can be completed in just a few hours, and it's a great way to use up fabric scraps.
To make this tree skirt, you will need:
1 yard of red plaid fabric
1 yard of green plaid fabric
1/2 yard of white fabric
1/4 yard of black fabric
Scissors
Sewing machine and thread
Start by cutting your fabrics into 12" x 12" squares. You will need 18 red squares, 18 green squares, and 9 white squares. Then, using a 1/4" seam allowance, sew the squares together in rows of six. Alternate the colors as you go.
Now it's time to assemble the rows into the tree skirt. Sew the first three rows together, then sew the fourth row to the bottom of the third row (this will form the opening for the tree skirt). Finally, sew the fifth and sixth rows together and attach them to the bottom of the fourth row.
At this point, you should have a large rectangle that measures approximately 54" x 72". To finish off the tree skirt, simply fold over the top edge 1/2" and hem in place. Then use scissors or a rotary cutter to round off the corners. And that's it! Your new plaid tree skirt is ready to use.
