Baking Candy Dots

One of the best things about Christmas is all of the delicious candy that you can enjoy! If you're looking for some amazing candy recipes to make this holiday season, then you have to try making candy dots!

Candy dots are so easy to make and they are absolutely delicious. All you need is some sugar, water, food coloring, and a piping bag. You'll also need a small round tip for your piping bag.

To start, mix together 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and then remove from heat. Add in a few drops of food coloring (I used red and green) and stir until combined.

Pour the candy mixture into your piping bag fitted with a small round tip. Pipe out small dots onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Let the candy dots dry for at least an hour before enjoying!

I hope you enjoy this candy dot recipe!

Chocolates and More

If you're looking for something a little more unique than the standard Christmas candy, try one of these recipes. Chocolate-covered pretzels, peanut butter balls, and truffles are always crowd-pleasers, and they're easy to make at home. For something a little fancier, try your hand at making homemade marshmallows or candied fruit.

Chocolate-Covered Pretzels

1 (12 oz) package of pretzel sticks

1 (12 oz) bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 teaspoon vegetable shortening

Sprinkles or candy decorations (optional)

Place a large piece of wax paper on an oven-safe plate or baking sheet. Set aside. Place the chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute, then stir well. Continue microwaving at 30 second intervals until the chocolate is melted and smooth. Dip each pretzel stick in the melted chocolate, being sure to coat entirely. Shake off any excess chocolate, then place on the wax paper. Top with sprinkles or candy decorations if desired. Repeat with remaining pretzels and chocolate. Allow the dipped pretzels to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

Peanut Butter Balls

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 tablespoon vegetable shortening

Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Set aside. In a medium bowl, stir together the peanut butter, sugar, and vanilla until well combined. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls, then place on the prepared baking sheet. Freeze for 30 minutes. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and shortening. Microwave on high for 1 minute, then stir well. Continue microwaving at 30 second intervals until the chocolate is melted and smooth. Dip each peanut butter ball in the melted chocolate, being sure to coat entirely. Shake off any excess chocolate, then place back on the wax paper. Repeat with remaining peanut butter balls and chocolate. Allow the dipped balls to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

Truffles

1 (12 oz) package semi-sweet chocolate chips

7 tablespoons heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting (optional )

Place the chocolate chips in a medium heat-proof bowl. In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring the cream just to a simmer. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips and let sit for 5 minutes to allow the chocolate to melt. Add the vanilla and salt, then stir until smooth. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm. Once firm, use a small spoon or melon baller to scoop out balls of chocolate (they should be about 1-inch in diameter). Roll each ball between your palms to form a smooth sphere, then place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. If desired, dust with cocoa powder. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to set. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Whatever you choose, your friends and family are sure to love it!

Hanging Jelly Candies

These hanging jelly candies are the perfect addition to your Christmas decor! They look beautiful dangling from the tree, and they taste even better! Made with real fruit juice, these candies are a delicious and healthy treat for the whole family.

To make these candy canes, you will need:

1 cup of real fruit juice (we used cranberry juice, but you can use any type of juice you like)

1/2 cup of sugar

1 package of unflavored gelatin

Red food coloring (optional)

Candy cane mold or small silicone molds

First, mix the fruit juice and sugar together in a pot over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has dissolved, then add the gelatin and stir until it is completely dissolved. If you are using red food coloring, add it now and stir until evenly mixed. Pour the mixture into your candy cane mold (or silicone molds) and let it set in the fridge for at least 2 hours. Once it is firm, carefully remove the candy canes from the mold and enjoy!

These candy canes are the perfect addition to any holiday party or get-together. They also make a great gift for friends and family.
